For any considering this product I highly recommend it.Travel themes – Typing Instructor has shunned the old-fashioned and often boring classroom-like approach to training. Maybe one day I'll improve enough to type like many of you out there but for now I'm happy with what I'm able to do.Īnyways, many years later and I'm finally able to enjoy my typing :). What I am very proud of those 20 wpm because they are being done without ever needing to look down at the keyboard. Now I'm not a very advanced typist in that I'm not yet able to type 60 words per minute, I'm still at a very low 20 wpm. I suffer from ADD so learning certain things is a big challenge, yet this little learning tool was able to help me work with that in that it was able to keep me interested in what I would be exposed to next to help improve my typing skills. A few hours a day and 13 hours into the program later I am now able to type this whole review you are reading without looking down at my fingers! For me it's an emotional goal accomplished because only until recently it has always been a goal that was very much out of my reach. It was a VERY slow start as I got introduced to a few letters at a time, and slowly things progressed to incorporating more and more letters. Still I decided to go for it not expecting much. I was a bit put off at first I'll admit because I felt a bit embarrassed I was considering a program aimed at a younger audience. One day, as I was browsing Steams amazing deals, I decided out of curiosity to look and see if there were any fun programs that could aid me in learning to type when I came across Typing Instructor for Kids. So over time I became discouraged because the idea of being able to type with simply feeling out the keyboard seemed like it was never going to happen. I tried a few books but they were quite boring to say the least. I've always wanted to learn but never knew how to go about it. I'd like to start by stating that I have never been the type to be able to type without looking down at the keyboard. But once we identified them and figured them out (ex: there is a glitch in the "help" section), we have been able to work around them without it interfering with the game. There are a couple of glitches in the game. Even though we had no other typing tutor options for the kids, I think this tutor was done well enough that I certainly recommend it. With how cartoony it is, it is perfect for what it is meant to do keep younger kids focused just long enough to learn a little bit each computer session. The kids seem to be able to stay focused long enough that they appear to be learning something (considering their ages 5/7 yo). And better yet, I am very pleased with it. So, we were "pushed" to try this tutor out.Īs for the game itself, my kids like it. Since there have been NO newer kids' typing tutors, and the classic Spooky typing tutor are nowhere to be found for sale (unless I go to an unfamiliar site and pray that the "free" downloads aren't malware). I originally wanted a newly developed kid's typing tutor with updated graphics or the Spooky typing tutor from the 90's. For windows (and the computer illiterate) follow these instructions- *right click* on desktop, select "screen resolution", *click* "resolution" drop down, set resolution to 800-600 or whatever your screen preference happens to be. you will need to change your resolution to the lowest settings or the screen will be tiny. ![]()
